If you’re hunting for a quiet RV park in Louisiana, Fireside RV Resort might be exactly your speed. You’ll find us about a mile off of I-12 at Exit 47, just outside Ponchatoula and a short hour north of New Orleans. We’re a family-owned, shade-loving little resort built for folks who want calm, not chaos. Full-hookup RV sites, furnished cabins, real resort amenities, and none of the honking generators or late-night racket you get at busier places.

We’re clearly not the only ones craving the calm, either. KOA’s 2026 North American Camping Report found that 66% of campers say fewer crowds make their trip better.

What makes an RV park actually quiet?

A peaceful RV park comes down to a handful of real things: enforced quiet hours, sensible rules on carts and vehicles, shaded elbow room between sites, and owners who genuinely care about keeping the calm. A pretty photo won’t do it. The policies will.

Here, quiet hours run 10pm to 8am, every single night. Golf carts top out at 5 miles per hour, and UTVs and ATVs stay off the grounds entirely. We lean family-friendly on purpose and steer clear of the spring-break scene, so the mood stays mellow. Toby O’Rourke, KOA’s President and CEO, said it best: “Nature isn’t a luxury amenity. It’s a real, proven wellness intervention.” That’s what a restful RV stay is really about.

Curious about everything on the grounds? Our amenities page spells it all out.

Where is Fireside, and how far is the city?

Our address is 42053 Hwy 445 in Ponchatoula, Louisiana, just a short drive from Hammond. Because we’re barely a mile from Exit 47, big rigs roll on and off the interstate without ever crawling through town traffic. It’s that quiet country feeling with the highway handy whenever you need it.

Here are the drive times to the spots you’ll probably want to hit:

  • Hammond: about 15 minutes away, home to the Saturday farmers market and Southeastern Louisiana University.
  • Ponchatoula: just minutes down the road, an antique-shopping town that’s a fun stop for a few hours of browsing.
  • New Orleans: about an hour’s drive south, so you can catch a Saints game or wander the French Quarter and still sleep somewhere peaceful.
  • Baton Rouge: a straightforward drive west when LSU football Saturdays roll around.

What rates can you expect in the off-season?

Our calmest stretch lands between November and March, and the nightly rates ease up right along with the crowds. Here’s what a low-key off-season stay runs:

Site typeNightly rate (Nov through Mar)Hookups & features
Standard RV site
$55
50- and 30-amp service, water, sewer, plus your own fire pit and grill
Premium RV site
$65
Full service in a prime shaded spot
Cabin (sleeps 6)
$145
Furnished, bring your own linens, no rig required

Nightly rates nudge up a little in the peak stretch from April through October, and we run a simple weekly deal: pay for 6 nights, the 7th is on us. Every season’s pricing lives on our rates page. You can also look over the full-hookup RV sites or the furnished cabins if you’re showing up without a camper.

Why book Fireside? Honest pricing, no surprises

The fastest way a relaxing trip turns stressful is at checkout, when the surprise add-ons appear. We just don’t play that game. Our promise is short and plain: “No site lock fee. No resort fee. No ‘community impact fee’.” You pay the nightly rate you were quoted. No nickel-and-diming, just pure camping.

Past the honest pricing, Fireside is family-owned and hands-on managed, which is how the grounds stay calm, safe, and clean. You get genuine outdoor time right alongside modern-resort comforts. The two pools (the adults-only one comes with a swim-up bar) and the lazy river are here all twelve months. Nobody heats the water, so they truly come alive once Louisiana’s warm months arrive. You’ve also got the lake, the shaded sites, the campfires, and the tranquility that had you searching in the first place.

Frequently asked questions

What is the quietest RV park near New Orleans?

That would be us. Fireside sits in Ponchatoula, a bit over an hour’s drive up from the city. Between the 10pm to 8am quiet hours, the 5 mph cart limit, the no-UTV/ATV rule, and a family-first crowd, it’s built to stay calm while the city stays an easy drive away.

Does Fireside have full-hookup RV sites?

Yes! Every site is fully serviced: 50- and 30-amp power, water, sewer, and your own fire pit and grill. We’ve got pull-through sites along with double and triple spots for the bigger setups.

No RV? Can you still stay?

No problem at all. We keep furnished cabins that sleep 6, so you can enjoy the same calm grounds without towing a thing. All you need to pack is linens. Full details are on our cabins page.

Is Fireside low-key enough for remote work or retirees?

It’s a great match. The enforced quiet hours, roomy shaded sites, and unhurried pace make it simple to work, unwind, or just slow way down. Wi-Fi reaches across the resort.

Are pets allowed?

They sure are. RV sites are pet-friendly, with common-sense rules: keep pups on a 6-foot leash, clean up after them, and use the on-site pet park. The cabins stay pet-free, but your RV site is glad to host the whole crew.

Ready for some honest peace and quiet? We’re about 15 minutes from Hammond and an hour from downtown New Orleans, sitting right at I-12’s Exit 47. Check dates and book your stay, then come get it made in the shade.
