Looking for RV resorts near Biloxi, Mississippi? Fireside RV Resort sits about 100 miles west in Ponchatoula, Louisiana, right off I-12, which puts the white sand of the Mississippi Gulf Coast roughly a two-hour drive away. You get full-hookup sites and real resort amenities, then day-trip to the beach and come home to peace and quiet.

Here’s the quick version if you’re just scanning:

  • Fireside is about 100 miles (roughly 2 hours) from Biloxi Beach via I-12 East to I-10 East.
  • 165 full-hookup sites (30/50-amp, water, sewer) and free WiFi across the whole park.
  • No junk fees tacked on. The nightly rate you’re quoted is the entire price.
  • A lazy river that runs all year, two swimming pools, cabins, and an on-site fishing pond.
  • Easy big-rig interstate access, and New Orleans is only about an hour away too.

How far is Fireside from Biloxi, Mississippi?

Fireside is about 100 miles from Biloxi, or right around a two-hour drive, straight down I-12 East to I-10 East. That’s close enough to spend a full day on the coast and be back at your site by dinner, but far enough that you skip the beachfront crowds and the beachfront prices. Gulfport and Bay St. Louis are even a little closer.

This is how the drive breaks down from our front gate to the places folks ask about most:

We sit about a mile from I-12 at Exit 47, so you’re on the interstate almost as soon as you pull out. The whole run to the coast is limited-access highway the entire way, no tight two-lane roads or low bridges to sweat, which matters a lot when you’re towing a fifth wheel or driving a big Class A.

Why base your Gulf Coast trip on the Louisiana Northshore?

Because you get the beach AND a calm place to sleep, without paying resort-fee games. A lot of beachfront parks pack you in tight, tack on surprise fees, and get loud. Fireside is the opposite: spacious, well-drained full-hookup sites on the wooded Louisiana Northshore, with clean bath houses and reliable free WiFi whether you’re logging in from the road or settling in for a longer stay.

Our whole thing is no nickel-and-diming. The homepage puts it plainly: “If you’re tired of getting nickel-and-dimed, Fireside is where you need to be!” The fees a lot of parks bury in the fine print, the resort fee, the site-lock charge, the fuzzy “community impact” line item, simply aren’t part of the deal here, and that honestly makes a bigger difference to a week-long stay than most folks expect.

The Mississippi Gulf Coast is a genuinely great summer destination, and you don’t have to take our word for it. “Exploring Coastal Mississippi in the summer brings effortless enjoyment,” says Judy Young, CEO of Coastal Mississippi Tourism. “It’s a place where travelers can slow down, reconnect and create lasting memories.” Basing yourself a couple hours inland just means you get that beach day, then trade the boardwalk noise for crickets and a campfire.

What is there to do on the Mississippi Gulf Coast?

Loads, honestly, and a good chunk of it costs nothing. According to Visit Mississippi, Biloxi Beach is part of “the world’s largest man-made beach,” stretching 26 miles along the coast, and the sand and parking along US-90 don’t cost a thing. Beyond the beach, you’ve got aquariums, museums, and a ferry out to a barrier island. A few worth building a day around:

The Mississippi Aquarium in Gulfport runs about $30 for an adult ticket and is a great rainy-morning backup. The Ship Island ferry only runs in the warmer months, so summer is the time for that one. And the Biloxi Lighthouse is a fun photo stop right in the median of Highway 90.

One honest heads-up for swimmers: the Gulf beaches stay open all summer, but Mississippi posts occasional water-quality advisories that come and go by the day. It takes two seconds to check the current status on the state’s beach monitoring page before you get in the water.

What’s there to do right around the resort?

A surprising amount, without ever getting on the interstate. Ponchatoula goes by “America’s Antique City,” and its downtown antique district is about 10 miles (roughly 15 minutes) from your site and free to wander. Folsom’s Global Wildlife Center lets you hand-feed giraffes and other animals from a canopy-covered wagon, and Fontainebleau State Park over in Mandeville gives you Lake Pontchartrain shoreline and trails for a few bucks a head. And New Orleans is only about an hour away whenever you want beignets and a French Quarter afternoon.

What do RV travelers want in a Gulf Coast resort?

Most folks are after the same short list: real full hookups, room to breathe, WiFi that actually works, and easy access to the beach and the interstate. That’s exactly what we built around. If you searched “camping sites near me” hoping for a Gulf Coast base with more than a gravel parking spot, this is it.

Every Fireside RV site comes with full 30/50-amp electric, water, and sewer, and there’s genuine space between neighbors instead of the elbow-to-elbow layout you find closer to the water. Pull-through, double, and triple sites handle big rigs easily. When you’re not on the coast, the property has its own lazy river running year-round, a family swimming pool, a separate adults-only pool, a fishing pond, a playground, sand volleyball, and golf cart rentals. Prefer four walls? Our cabins sleep up to six. Pets are welcome at RV sites too, so nobody in the family gets left home.

Frequently asked questions

Are there RV resorts in Biloxi, Mississippi, or should I stay nearby?

There are RV parks right in Biloxi, but a lot of them sit tight against the beach and the casinos, which means smaller sites, higher rates, and more noise. Staying about two hours west at Fireside gets you spacious full-hookup sites and a quieter setting, and the beach is still an easy day trip.

Does Fireside have full-hookup sites for big rigs?

Yes! All 165 sites have full hookups with 30/50-amp electric, plus water and sewer, and we've got pull-through, double, and triple sites that fit large motorhomes and fifth wheels without a fuss.

How far is Fireside from the Gulf Coast beaches?

Biloxi is about 100 miles (roughly two hours) via I-12 East to I-10 East. Gulfport and Bay St. Louis are a touch closer, around 90 and 75 miles. It's easy interstate driving the whole way.

Is there free WiFi at the resort?

There sure is. Free WiFi runs throughout the property, which makes Fireside a comfortable base if you're working remotely or settling in for a longer stay.

What does it cost to stay, and are there extra fees?

Nightly rates are seasonal, and you can see current pricing on our rates page. Here's what matters: we skip the surprise add-ons you run into elsewhere. No mystery resort charge, no site-lock upcharge, no "community impact" line. What you book is what you pay.

Can I bring my dog?

Absolutely. Pets are welcome at our RV sites (just keep them leashed and pick up after them). Our cabins are the one exception, since those stay pet-free.

Make the Louisiana Northshore your Gulf Coast basecamp. Fireside RV Resort is at 42053 Highway 445 in Ponchatoula, a couple minutes off I-12 at Exit 47, roughly two hours from Biloxi’s beaches and an hour from New Orleans.
