For a full hookup RV park in Louisiana with easy interstate access, Fireside RV Resort has 165 sites in Ponchatoula, and each pad has its own sewer hookup, water connection and electric pedestal wired for both 30 and 50 amps. Exit 47 on I-12 is only about a mile from Fireside via LA 445. From Fireside, Hammond is about 10 minutes away, Baton Rouge about 45 minutes and New Orleans about an hour.

Fireside’s sites sit in the woods under tall pines, so it’s an easy pick if you’d rather not spend the night in a parking lot. Rolling in this month? Fireside’s Halloween Spooktacular runs every Saturday in October 2026, and four of those Saturdays are still ahead (October 10, 17, 24 and 31), with pumpkin carving, a jambalaya cook-off, hay rides and a site decorating competition.

Fireside at a glance:

  • 165 RV sites, all of them full hookup (water, sewer, 30 amp and 50 amp)
  • 20-by-65-foot pull-through premium sites, plus standard and back-in sites
  • Concrete roads and crushed limestone pads
  • Standard sites: $65 a night April to October, $55 a night November to March
  • Nothing extra for resort fees, site locks or reservation service

What does full hookup mean at an RV park?

At an RV park, full hookup means your own site has electric, a water line and a sewer connection, so you can settle in without hauling tanks to a dump station. KOA puts it plainly: “A full hookup lets you connect your RV directly to electricity, water and sewer,” according to KOA’s guide to choosing an RV site type. KOA calls a site with only water and electric a partial hookup, which means emptying your tanks somewhere else before you leave.

All 165 sites at Fireside RV Resort are full hookup, so there’s no hunting around the resort map for the “good” sites. Each of Fireside’s full hookup RV sites in Ponchatoula also comes with a picnic table, plus a fire ring that doubles as the BBQ pit.

Need a full hookup RV park near me off I-12?

If you’re driving I-12, I-55 or I-10 across southeast Louisiana, Fireside RV Resort is a quick hop from I-12 Exit 47 at LA 445 in Tangipahoa Parish. Interstate 12 runs from I-10 in Baton Rouge to I-10 and I-59 in Slidell, skipping New Orleans and cutting about 22 miles off the Baton Rouge to Slidell drive, according to the Interstate 12 route overview.

That shortcut makes Fireside an easy overnight stop on a long haul, or a home base for a longer stay. Directions by the road you’re on:

  1. I-55 southbound (Jackson, Memphis and points north): exit at 29A onto I-12 East, ride about 9 miles to Exit 47, and LA 445 brings you about a mile to Fireside.
  2. Baton Rouge or Texas: head east on I-12 and get off at Exit 47.
  3. Mississippi on I-10 West: at Slidell, bear onto I-12 West and stay on it to Exit 47.
  4. New Orleans: follow I-10 West until it meets I-55, go north to I-12, then head east to Exit 47.

Which Louisiana cities are an easy drive from Fireside?

You’ll have plenty of company on the road. KOA’s 2026 Camping & Outdoor Hospitality Report counted upward of 52 million households across North America that went camping during 2025, which tops pre-pandemic participation. The RV Industry Association’s 2025 Go RVing RV Owner Demographic Profile adds, “Currently, 8.1 million American households own an RV.” Coming in for an LSU home game? Do you need 30-amp or 50-amp service in Louisiana?

Fireside RV Resort has both 30-amp and 50-amp hookups at every site, so you never need to hunt for a special pedestal, and that matters most if your rig runs more than one air conditioner. A 30-amp receptacle provides “about 3,600 watts of power,” while a 50-amp receptacle supplies “about 12,000 watts,” according to Good Sam’s guide to RV shore power.

Louisiana summers make that gap matter. The Hammond 5 E weather station, east of Hammond, logs an average July high of 91.5°F and an August high of 91.8°F in NOAA’s climate normals for 1991 to 2020. Good Sam also notes, “Two, three, or even four roof air conditioners will operate fine if connected to an RV pedestal supplying 50 amps.” October is gentler, with an average October high of 80.6°F at the Hammond 5 E station, so fall is a sweet time to camp at Fireside.

Can big rigs get a pull-through site at Fireside?

Big rigs can book Fireside RV Resort’s premium pull-through sites, which measure 20 by 65 feet, so you can drive in nose-first and skip the backing-up dance. Fireside’s premium sites also come as 20-by-60-foot back-in sites, while a standard Fireside site is 20 feet wide and 50 feet long. Before you book, measure your rig plus whatever you tow, since Fireside allows one camping unit and up to two vehicles per site.

Fireside also offers double and triple sites, and you’ll find their nightly prices in the rate table below. The concrete roads and crushed limestone pads keep things clean in every season, and trust us, that counts for a lot after a south Louisiana downpour.

How much is a full hookup RV site at Fireside?

From April through October, Fireside RV Resort’s full hookup sites cost $65 a night for a standard site and $75 for a premium site. From November through March, those same Fireside sites drop to $55 and $65 a night. Four guests are included in every Fireside nightly rate, and checkout at Fireside never sneaks in a resort fee, a site-lock surcharge or a reservation service charge.

Ways to save, per Fireside’s current RV park rates and specials page:

  • Weekly stays: at Fireside, buy 6 nights and the 7th night is free.
  • Weekday special: Fireside’s $35 standard and $45 premium RV site rates apply on Sunday to Wednesday nights throughout September, November and December, excluding holidays, so the next round at Fireside starts in November.
  • Member and military savings: AARP, Good Sam, military and 65-plus guests each get 10% off at Fireside, though you can’t stack them.

Holiday bookings at Fireside add $10 per night, per site, and a fifth or sixth guest pays a per-person nightly fee. That’s the whole list. No trickery!

Your site also covers the lazy river and pools at no extra charge. Fireside keeps its lazy river and pools open all year, though the water isn’t heated, and Fireside lists its poolside swim-up bar as seasonal.

What makes the best full hookup RV park?

The best full hookup RV park gets the boring stuff right: sewer at your own pad, both amp levels, enough room to park, and a bill that matches the quoted rate. Fireside RV Resort checks those boxes with sewer, water and 30-amp and 50-amp power at all 165 sites, plus 20-by-65-foot pull-throughs. A few extras round it out:

  • Free Wi-Fi throughout Fireside, plus on-site laundry, bath houses and a camp store
  • Tall Louisiana pines shading Fireside’s sites
  • The I-55 interchange sits about 9 miles west of Fireside’s exit on I-12

How do you hook up at a full hookup site?

Do it in this order and setup at a full hookup site is quick. KOA’s guide to connecting RV hookups covers the safe habits:

  1. Power first. KOA says to “Ensure the pedestal breakers are in the ‘off’ positions before plugging (and unplugging) your RV cord.” Plug in, then flip the breaker on.
  2. Then water. “Having a water pressure regulator is recommended since water pressure can vary by campground,” KOA advises.
  3. Then sewer. Connect the hose and leave the black tank valve closed between dumps. Per KOA, “Black tanks should never be more than 75% full or left open.”

One Fireside house rule to know: washing RVs, campers and vehicles isn’t allowed on the grounds, so get the road grime off before you arrive.

Frequently asked questions

Do all RV parks have full hookups?

Is Wi-Fi included at Fireside RV Resort?

Free Wi-Fi runs throughout Fireside RV Resort, and there’s no extra charge for it.

Can I bring my dog to an RV site?

Your dog can come along to a Fireside RV site, as long as the leash is no longer than 6 feet or the pup stays in a contained area. Fireside even has a Pet Park, but the cabins, pool area and restrooms are off-limits to pets.

When can I check in and out?

Fireside’s check-in time is 3 p.m., and check-out is 11 a.m. When your site happens to be empty early, you can check in early for free; enter your site number on Fireside’s free early check-in page to find out.

Are the lazy river and pools extra?

The lazy river and pools aren’t extra. Every RV site and cabin booking at Fireside includes floating the lazy river and swimming in the family pool, plus, for guests 21 and up, time at the swim-up bar beside the adults-only pool, all with no resort fee. Fireside’s water features stay open year-round without heat.

How many people can stay on one RV site?

Each Fireside RV site includes four guests in the nightly price. At Fireside, a fifth and sixth guest can join for a per-person nightly fee, kids 3 and under are free, and six is the limit.
