LSU home games turn Baton Rouge into one of the busiest places in the South, and the rooms near campus disappear fast. Here’s the short version.

Where to stay for LSU football home weekends? Book a full-hookup RV site or a cabin at Fireside RV Resort in Ponchatoula, about 45 miles and 45 minutes north of Tiger Stadium by way of I-12 West to I-10. You get a quiet, well-spaced spot with real hookups, two pools, and a lazy river waiting for you after the game, and there’s no resort fee or surprise charge tacked on at the end.

We’ve hosted plenty of Tiger fans over the years, and the folks who book early always seem to have the calmest game day. The ones who wait until the week of kickoff usually end up paying a premium for a cramped room miles from campus, if they find a room at all.

When are the LSU home games in 2026?

LSU plays seven home games at Tiger Stadium in 2026, starting with Clemson on September 5. The full home slate is below. A few kickoff times are still in flex windows, so double-check the exact time the week of your game.

The Texas A&M, Alabama, and Texas weekends are the big SEC draws, so those are the ones to lock down first. The Clemson opener is a marquee night game too, and Labor Day weekend traffic stacks on top of it, so don’t sleep on that one. You can confirm dates and any time changes on the official LSU football schedule.

Where should you stay for an LSU football weekend?

Stay at a full-hookup RV resort a short drive north of campus instead of fighting for a room in Baton Rouge. The state tourism office puts it plainly: accommodations near campus “are likely to fill up fast for home-game weekends.” Hotels book months ahead and prices climb the closer you get to kickoff.

A spot at Fireside gives you something a hotel can’t. You’ve got your own rig or a private cabin, full hookups, room to spread out, and a pool and lazy river waiting when you get back hot and tired after four quarters in Death Valley. It’s a real base for the weekend, not a parking-lot room you only sleep in. And because we’re an easy RV park near Baton Rouge without being in the middle of the game-day gridlock, mornings stay quiet.

How far is Fireside from Tiger Stadium?

Fireside RV Resort sits about 45 miles from Tiger Stadium, roughly a 45-minute drive in light traffic if you take I-12 West to I-10. We sit just off Exit 47 on I-12 in Ponchatoula, out on the New Orleans Northshore.

Game day is a lot busier, so give yourself extra time. The roads around campus tighten up hours before kickoff and again after the final whistle, so the earlier you roll in, the better. Leave early, enjoy the tailgate, and you’ll come back to a calm site that night.

Can you park your RV at Tiger Stadium?

You can, but it isn’t the easy weekend a lot of people picture. LSU’s campus RV lots are dry camping, which means no water, sewer, or electric hookups. You need a permit, the single-game motor home lot opens Thursday evening, spots run $100 to $250, and every motor home has to be off campus by noon the day after the game. Tailgate setup doesn’t start until 5 p.m. Friday.

That’s fine for a quick in-and-out, but if you want a real shower, full hookups, and somewhere to actually relax, a full-hookup site nearby beats LSU football RV parking on campus. You drive in for the tailgate, then come home to power, water, and a pool. Plenty of fans do exactly that.

RV sites and cabins that book fast for game weekends

Pick a full-hookup RV site if you’re bringing your own rig, or grab a cabin if you’re flying in or carpooling with friends. Both book up fast on home weekends, so reserve early. Take a look at how they stack up.

September is one of the better times to come, too. Standard sites start at just $35 a night that month, and if you’re stringing a couple of home games together or pairing the trip with New Orleans, our buy-six-nights-get-one-free deal makes an extended stay RV park trip easy on the wallet. Check our pricing page for the latest rates before you book.

And about that bottom line: no resort fee gets tacked on here. No site-lock fee waiting at checkout. And nothing called a reservation service fee. The rate you see is the rate you pay.

Game-day tips for visiting Tiger Stadium

A little planning goes a long way on an LSU Saturday. This is what we tell our guests heading into Baton Rouge.

  • Leave early. Traffic around campus gets heavy well before kickoff, and roads reverse direction (contraflow) after the game.
  • Set a meeting spot with your group before you lose cell service in the crowd.
  • Bring sunscreen, a refillable water bottle, and a poncho. September in Louisiana swings between blazing sun and surprise downpours.
  • Know the clear-bag rules at Tiger Stadium and pack light to get through the gates faster.
  • Save the lazy river and pool for when you get back. Nothing beats cooling off after a long, loud day in the stands.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where do RVs park for LSU football games?

LSU offers dry-camping RV lots on campus that need a permit, with no water, sewer, or electric hookups. The single-game motor home lot opens Thursday evening and runs $100 to $250, and every RV must leave campus by noon the day after the game. Many fans prefer a full-hookup site nearby and drive in for the tailgate.

Do Baton Rouge hotels sell out for LSU games?

Yes, and quickly. The state tourism office notes that accommodations fill up fast on home-game weekends, and prices spike the closer you get to kickoff. Booking an RV site or cabin north of the city well ahead of time is the safer, calmer play.

How far is Fireside from Tiger Stadium?

It's about 45 miles, a 45-minute drive in light traffic if you head down I-12 West to I-10. The resort sits just off Exit 47 along I-12, in Ponchatoula. Build in extra time on game day, since the roads near campus get busy hours before kickoff.

Can you stay overnight in your RV on LSU's campus?

Only for a limited window. Campus motor home lots allow dry camping from as early as Thursday evening, but every RV has to be off campus by noon the day after the game. For a full weekend with hookups, a nearby resort is the better fit.

Are the cabins at Fireside pet-friendly?

Our RV sites are pet-friendly, but the cabins are not. If you're bringing a dog along, go with the rig, or leave the pooch at home this trip. Cabins sleep six, come move-in ready, and have a two-night minimum.

How much does it cost to stay during a game weekend?

September standard RV sites start at $35 a night and cabins start at $145, with no added resort or reservation fees. Rates shift by season and weekends book fast, so check our current pricing and reserve early to lock in your spot.
